Privacy policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This policy explains how BW Haze ("we") handles data when you use our app Release Notes Writer for Jira & Confluence (the "app"), our website and our support channels. We are responsible for the processing described here; Atlassian is not.

Summary

Data the app stores

The app keeps the following in Atlassian's Forge storage, inside your Atlassian site:

DataPurpose
Templates: names, section titles, work type choices, JQL filter, whether keys are shownBuild release notes the way your project admins set up
Project settings: chosen Confluence space; automatic publishing on/off, template and spaceRemember your choices
Published pages: Confluence page and space IDs, the introduction text you wrote, publication timeUpdate the same page instead of creating duplicates
Last automatic run: time, version name, page link or error messageShow project admins what happened

The app does not store personal data such as names, email addresses or account IDs. If someone types personal data into a template name or introduction, it is stored as written.

Data the app reads but does not store

To build release notes, the app reads Jira versions, work types and work items (key, summary, work type and, for the Rovo agent, a short part of the description), and lists Confluence spaces and pages. This happens at the moment you use the app, with your own Jira and Confluence permissions (or, for automatic publishing, the app's permissions, leaving out work items with a security level). The resulting release notes are saved as a page in your Confluence site.

Rovo

When you use the Release Notes Writer agent, the app gives your site's Rovo the facts about the version, and Rovo writes the text under Atlassian's terms. The app does not send data to any other AI provider.

Logs

When something goes wrong, the app may write technical error messages to Atlassian's Forge logs (for example, an error code returned by Confluence). These logs are visible to us so we can fix problems, and are kept for a limited period set by Atlassian. We do not log the content of your work items.

Where the data is located

Data stored by the app is held by Atlassian in the same location as your Atlassian site and moves with it if your admin changes the data residency location. Atlassian acts as our infrastructure provider; see the Atlassian privacy policy.
